Wow... how exciting ;D

Julie - There is a good chance that all the Hyslops you mention are related. It would be lovely to link everyone together.

My G.G.G Grandfather John Hyslop and his brother Robert Hyslop emigrated to New York. John returned back to Lochrutton and started a family late in life (his family generally didn't move far from Lochrutton, even to my generation! His brother Robert remained in NY but died of yellow fever. I don't believe that Robert had children.

There was another brother, William Hyslop. Now I believe some of his children may have emigrated, so its this side of the family that the papers have probably come from.

I'm on a day off today, and have a bit of running around to do, but I'll have an investigation into some of the folk you name and report back later.

Tx

I am looking for information on a Hellen or Ellen born in Mosside in1798 ( I believe). Ellen married Robert Hume and moved to Kirkcudbright at some point. I haven't found much on her family yet but would love to know more!

Bethsdragon... there were lots of Hyslops in this area, so I'm not sure if they are the same branch, But I'll have a hunt around and see if I have a reference to Hellen/Ellen.

Tx

Good evening! I’m new here but just out of interest I’m from Lochfoot. North park Farm to be specific, directly opposite Southpark that’s been mentioned here. I’m a Kirk.
There are still Davidsons in the area, running the haulage firm. I’m convinced the Davidson family had Hyslop connections too.
I can do my best to help with any local info, directions etc.
