Hello Elusiveblue

Thanks for your reply to my query about Middlesex County Hospital.  I looked at your web link to the Spire - the building is now very impressive and hopefully has a good reputation in the local area

Hi Carol,

If the hospital was at Windmill Lane, there is a book that is on sale in Bushey Museum that is about Bushey cottage hospital. If you email them they may be able to have a look for you if it was the Maternity Hospital. It was reduced in price, it is only a small book but it has some nice black and white pictures.

Regards,

Jackie.

Hello Jackie and Ray

Thanks for the helpful information about the booklet.  I've just contacted Bushey Museum to ask if the cottage hospital was also the maternity hospital - will buy the book if so.

Thanks again

Need some help please regarding Middlesex County Hospital. Have seen the questions and answers but need some more.
According to my birth certificate I was born there in March 1942. My mother's memory was of a large, old house with a spectacular staircase. The delivery room was in the library and she recalled that when she was leaving my father carried me down the stairs and she felt like dancing down as they did in the movies!!
I know that in the war many large country houses were taken over by the government and used as hospitals. I wonder if this is the case with this hospital. It would be nice to know if this was the case and where this house was/is.
Can anyone help me please?
