oldham workhouse 1901

Does anyone have access to any 1901 oldham workhouse records apart from the census returns
If so I am looking for the possible reson why Amelia Fielding was in the workhouse at that time

Have been on that website but no specific info have also spoken to library staff in Oldham but they are very vague as to what info they have perhaps again the only thing is a personal vist .

Looking around some of the other workhouses, on lookups that I have done, it seems the records are very few and far between, and I  havn't seen any online. Might have to be a visit to the local records office, to see what they have

Oldham Local Studies and Archives have some of the records for Oldham Union Workhouse.
They have the addmission and discharge registers, Creed registers and the relatives registers on film, they are hard to read in some parts as the writing has faded.

My grandfather was in Oldham workhouse at the time of the 1901 census, he was admitted in 1900 and discharged 1906, i have been able to get copies from the addmission, dischage and creed registers, but for the time he was in the workhouse there were no relatives register.

The records are very hit and miss for the workhouse, those that have been filmed are hard to read in places.

The 1901 census was taken at the end of March 1901, so it looks like Amelia had been in the work house previously, I checked the records for an earlier date but couldn't find any thing.

Oldham Local Studies can be contacted online.  They did a search for me for free.  They need the full names of the people who were "inmates" plus their dates of birth.  They did a search for me in records less than 100 years old because of the data protection the public cannot see these records. If you live local you call in to the library it's on Union Street in Oldham.
