1901 Summerhill Dublin Lookup
« on: Tuesday 12 August 08 18:47 BST (UK) »
I have been trying to find if my grandparents were at 35 Summerhill, Dublin on the 1901 census. Can anyone help please.
They were there on the 1911 but cannot get access to the 1901. Tried the LDS but there appears many films for the Dublin area and not sure which would be the right one. They were the Williams family and my grandmother was Elizabeth and her mother Mary Jane Williams. Any help would be appreciated. My greatgrandfather was called Peter and may have been on the 1901 but had died by the 1911 census.

Thanks for taking the trouble to reply to my message. Unfortunately none of the Williams you have identified appear to be mine. My hope was after finding them on the 1911 at 35 Summerhill they might have been there 10 years earlier.

I have tried to get access to the LDS Dublin census information for 1901 but there appears to be a number of different films and my local centre will only order a specific reel at a time and it could take me years for them to arrive and for me to go through them as I have no idea which reel Summerhill is on. Thanks again for your help, I will have to keep looking.

The film numbers that you require ar D.E.D. 38/
number 69 Summerhill is in D.E.D. 38/72 so you could work back from that

Glad you made sense of the LDS indexing system for Irish 1901 census. I will order the film tomorrow at my local centre, they have told me it could take a few weeks depending on orders already taken for it. From the research you kindly carried out for me can you therefore confirm that my grandparents were not at 35 Summerhill in 1901 which was going to be my starting point given they were there on the 1911?  Thanks

Just found this chat site by accident ,I have been trying to find any of the Colmey family from Dublin or the Reilly family. I know John Reilly born approx 1887 was married to Margaret Colmey(1889) they were married 1909 and lived in summerhill, apparently they were all from around this area. The Colmey family are apparently the family moved and are still all living around the Drumcondra and Cabra  I am trying to find in particular John and Margaret's parents John Reilly ? mother`s name and Patrick Colmey ? mothers name (possibly Ann Eagers) John was a car driver and Patrick was a laborer.
Any help would be appreciated
also if anyone has a map of this area for 1909 which identifies Buckingham Place off Portland Row or knows where to get onewould be appreciated
regards
Michelle
