« on: Wednesday 26 January 05 16:23 GMT (UK) »
I would be grateful if someone could give me the info. re :

Reuben Town(s)end - there are two entries on the 1850 census for New York State - but I can't access them (I only have UK subscription) - Also the passenger list info please !!!

My Reuben left England after his marriage to Elizabeth in 1847....their daughter Mary was born in March 1851 in Poughkeepsie, NY ...... where are they in 1850 ?

I checked the items you listed.
The two Reubens listed in were born in the US- one Vermont and the other NY. One lived in Herkimer County and one is Bradford, Pennsylvania.

The two passenger lists do not match your dates- one is for 1842 and the other 1856.

If you still want the details I can send them by pm.

Thank you for that !

The passenger list info. for 1856 may fit !

He went to USA initially as did his brother George with their wives (Elizabeth & Hannah) - both had daughter in Poughkeepsie - end og 1850 & beg 1851....

George & family stayed in USA (I have details of descendants) - but Reuben & Elizabeth & daughter Mary came back to England - Mary was christened in England in Dec 1852.  Two more girls were born in England, in 1853 & 1855.....then Reuben disappeared.....

I believe he returned to his brother ..... any info to support this would be wonderful!

Reuben came August 4, 1856 departing from Liverpool on the Harvest Queen.  Arrived in US.  No port shown.

In the party were Jospeh Townsend (age 25,weaver), Mary Townsend (age 55), Reuben (age 29, occupation hard to read might be thrower), and ELiza (age 14).

Hope this helps! Kristin
