Kurt Walther Weber from Leipzig in Canada
« on: Thursday 21 August 08 11:13 BST (UK) »

I'm writing this query for another researcher.

His grandfather (now deceased) told him once that his uncle emigrated
from Germany to Canada.

His name was Kurt Walther Weber and he was born 20.04.1886 in Leipzig.
It is not known when exactly he emigrated but maybe it was before the WW1.

The other researcher would like to find traces of this uncle and his descendants
in Canada and he hopes to find some living relatives.

As I know it's difficult to find something if we don't know in which province of
Canada this uncle lived, I will ask him if he knows something more.

Kind regards

Hi Svenja,

The only information that I could see would be a border crossing from Canada to the USA dated January 4, 1938.

Unknown if this is your man.  Listed as Kurt Weber born Germany.  Age is 48 with an estimated birth of 1890.  He crossed at Niagara Falls, New York, USA.  If he was living in Canada, he would probably be living in Ontario.  The image is very poor but from what I could read his destination was Germany via New York.  Probably catching a boat there I would imagine.  In January he would probably have to travel to Quebec City if he were to take a boat out of Canada.

Hope that helps in some way.  If you get any further information it may help to find more.  Especially if he changed his name spelling in some way when he arrived here.
