Maesgwyn and Fedw Arian
« on: Saturday 23 August 08 19:53 BST (UK) »
I'm trying to trace my family who moved from Maesgwyn (in Llanfihangel GM) to Fedw Arian near Bala in Llanycil sometime between 1734 and 1745.

Evan ROBERT (of Llanfawr) married Elizabeth MORRIS at Llanfihangel GM in 1732.
In 1734 William son of Evan ROBERT and Elizabeth was baptised at Llangwm. (Family info has this child born at Ystrad).

In 1745 Hugh son of Evan ROBERT and Hanna of Vedw Arian was baptised at Llanycil.

To put my request in short form.

Could "Gadget" or anyone else please lookup the following:
a burial for Elizabeth MORRIS wife of Evan ROBERT
and/or
a marriage for Evan ROBERT to Hanna
in the time frame 1734-1745
in or close to either Llanfihangel GM or Llanycil.

Thanks for any help,
Irene

Hi Irene

I've just checked the Llanycil records and can find no marriage between an Evan Robert(s) to a (H)anna(a).

Also no burials for Elizabeth Morris. There are two Elizabeth Robert but as they were using the patronymic form, I'm doubtful about them. Also, no other info and the addresses don't match.

Regards

Thanks "Gadget". I suspect then that these events must have happened before the family moved from Maesgwyn.

I appreciate your help.

I'm not sure if I have anything on Llanfihangel GM. I'll check this out tomorrow if I have.

Thanks - I'd appreciate any help. Otherwise it's a long haul ordering the LDS films etc. Takes about 3-6 weeks and often find nothing at all.

Best wishes, Irene

When Evan ROBERTS and his first wife Elizabeth (probably) MORRIS married at Llanfihangel GM in 1732, the groom was stated to be of Llanvawr. The only child that I know of for this marriage (William 1734-1805) was reputedly born at Ystrad, Llangwm (ref Dictionary of Welsh Biography). And there is a baptism for William son of Evan ROBERT in the Llangwm BT's for Oct 7 1734.

So I was wondering if anyone has the Llanfawr church records and could do a look up for me. I'll post a similar request on the Denbighshire list for Llangwm.

To summarise what I'm looking for...
Period 1734-1745
The burial of the above Elizabeth MORRIS.
Any baptisms for children of Evan ROBERT (and Elizabeth or Hannah).
A re-marriage for Evan ROBERT to Hannah.
