I am trying to trace my ex husbands Empson relations - I came across some from Horsey who then moved to Great Yarmouth - has any one any information?

Thanks

The furthest back I can get is Mary Ann ? who married John Empson (b 1809) at Horsey - they had 4 children - Sarah, Henry James, William Arthur and Elizabeth - Henry James was my ex husbands great great grandfather born in 1845. I have the family living in Horsey until the 1871 census when they are found in Great Yarmouth - 1881 in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, 1891 back in Great Yarmouth and 1901 back in Gateshead (where they stayed)

There are also a few Empsons in Winterton which I think might be related to my Horsey ones.

Does anyone have any further info on this branch of the family?

Welcome to Rootschat.
Neither lindjemp or Camperman have been on Rootschat for a few years.
If they are still around and/or have the same email afress they will be notified of your post on this query.

I am not sure how far you have gone back with this Family but I think I have found a possible mistake in Trees.

EG from Trees;
George Empson
Birth:  15 Oct 1815 - Norfolk, England
Death:  Oct 1902 - Erpingham, Norfolk, England
Marriage:  26 Mar 1842 - Southrepps, Norfolk, England
Spouse:  Mary Hewitt
Parents JAMES/MARY ANN

George was Baptised    30 Oct 1815, St James, Southrepps
Birth 15 Oct 1815
But Parents Were JOHN/MARY
Fathers Occp Farmer
(FreeREG)

This may be a mistake though and someone may have his M/C to Mary Hewitt which has his Father as JAMES (who he appears with in 1841 Census)

MARRIAGE;
5 Nov 1798, St Mary, Waxham, Norfolk
James EMPSON, Bachelor
Mary Anne JACKSON, Single
Brides Parish Smallburgh
Witnesses Robert Empson/Mary Empson
Mary Anne Jackson A Minor Married With Consent Of Parents
(FreeREG)

Childrens Baptisms;
St Mary, Sea Pelling, Norfolk
JAMES JACKSON, 20 Aug 1799
MARIA ANNE, 14 Aug 1800
CHARLES, 28 Jan 1803

THOMAS CUBITT, 21 Dec 1806 (remarried as a Widower 1847 Norwich, Father James, Farmer)
ELIZA, 20 March 1808

1851 Mar A Empson is born c 1780 Smulbrough, Norfolk (Smallburgh)

MARY ANN Jackson Christened 19 March 1780, Smallburgh, Norfolk to JOHN/ANN
(Familysearch.Org)

FreeREG has;
JOHN Jackson Buried 28 Feb 1790, St Peter, Smallburgh, age 16
Parents JOHN/ANN
Mother Late STOCKDALE

Cheers,
Trish :)
