Thanks for that Casalguidi,

I did look this address up a couple of years ago when I first received my grandparents mar.cert. in the hope one of them was living there in 1891, but not to be.  Looks like it's back to the drawing board - what amazes me is that I was always under the impression that ALL my grandparents were born in and always lived in and around Camberwell/Peckham, you'd think it would be a doddle finding them, but no.  I reckon there was a huge black hole in the middle of the area that swallowed them all up on census night.

Thanks ever so much for your help.

Sandie.

Me AGAIN!

Can anyone tell me whether it's possible to do an 'address search' on 1891 census, or can this only be searched by name?

Hi Sandie

If you are talking about online then not by address at present. There are some published street indexes for some areas so you could post a request in the appropriate county for the ref. numbers for a particular road.

Also, local libraries/record offices hold street indexes for 1891 as does the Family Records Centre.

Best wishes

Can anyone find the marriage of my George James Tyler and Susan Williams?  I have looked and looked and just can't find it.

I have George and Susan in 1901 at 12 Stanton St., Peckham and thanks to Casalguidi I have them at the same address in 1891.  I eventually found my grandmothers birth in 1886 and obtained her birth certificate, they were at 50 Stanton Street.  On both censuses they are all listed as being born Peckham/Camberwell and as far as I can see my grandmother is the eldest child - although obviously they may have lost a child beforehand.  I have looked for their marriage from 1880 to 1886 but cannot find it - it seems as quick as I knock down one brick structure, another pops up in it's place.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Regards

I'm sorry to bother everyone AGAIN but these are driving me mad.    I decided to concentrate on one family - Collyer/Collier, but I cannot find them and its not for the want of trying.  Based on the info I gathered from my grandmother's birth cert. (1880) and the 1881 census I have:
Checked for Henry & Mary's marriage on IGI, Freebmd, Ancestry and 1837online, I ignored geography and just concentrated on name & dates.  I searched 5 years before and after the year of birth of their first child.  When I couldn't find them I requested a BVRI lookup, but they didn't show there either.
I then tried 1871 & 1891 censuses, I began by just 'scanning' ancestry and when I couldn't find them posted a lookup request, but they couldn't be found.  Then, using Ancestry, again I ignored geography,  I looked for them under the nine name variations that came up, but I just cannot find them.
Can any of you more experienced hunters suggest any other way of finding them?

Sandie can we have their names possible dates of birth and the names and c dates for any children that you know of.

I recently had someone find my Hicks listed under Wicks, so variations of the surname may not help, it probably requires forenames and a degree of imagination and TIME

Started at the beginning.

In 1861 there are two Henry Collyer's born Surrey.  The first was iffy, this one has some possibilities if the naming patterns of Henry's and mary children are correct
George Collyer   1801   Woking,      Head
Elizabeth Collyer   1805   Worplesdon,      Wife
Elizabeth Collyer   1842   Woking,      Daughter
Henry Collyer   1844   Woking,      Son
Ellen Collyer   1850   Woking,      Daughter
William Collyer   1860   Woking,      Grandson
RG9/424 114 19
henry was a bricklayers lab and The father was a railway Plate layer.  Does this ring a bell.
