New Genealogy Facility in Kilmarnock
« on: Sunday 31 August 08 16:29 BST (UK) »
I am a regular visitor to the Strathclyde Genealogy Centre at Park Circus, Glasgow.  I have recently heard from fellow researchers about a similar facility opening up in Kilmarnock shortly.
Can anybody confirm this rumour, and is there any further details available.
I live in Troon, so Kilmarnock would be more convenient providing it has the network link to Registry House in Edinburgh.

Best Regards
Tom

Yes, its seems like its going to happen.  A DIGROS based facility, but how extensive I dont yet know.  I took a walk round the building the other day and spoke to the construction workers who were working on the car park.  Reports were that the internal work was at an advanced stage and the exterior work was the main hold up due to the weather.  Off course all the equipment and staff will take a wee while, but it looks like early 2009 to me.

Best Regards
Tom
