Dear Harrissons
How lovely to you you all chatting as a family . Another success for this site . I am from the Smith/Payton family and we all found each other last summer and had a meet in September . It was wonderful , the most striking thing I think in boating families is the warm between them .
 Regards Jean x
Attached is a 1910 photo with my Gran Sarah Smith as a young woman with her mum and dad Thomas and Eliza Smith also girls Eliza and Elizabeth and young man Edward .

Hi

Sounds like you've got some interesting stuff linda. Do you have thing to do with Brooks, Chater, Wenlock, Smith, Gardner families? My rellies were boatman in the Midlands/Northants/Bucks area.

 :)

Hi Jeanette
Please be my guest . I havent a clue where the photo was taken . It is a well known photo in my family . Sonia Rolte's first husband George Smith  was My Grans nephew . These were his grandparents and Aunts and Uncle . She used this photo in her book 'A Canal People' .
There are a few of their descendants on here .
I have a 1911 census of them on these boats  too but the writing is unclear as to where they are .
regards Jean
