Hi

Still having trouble locating this family :(  I'll keep looking.

Maria Trainor born 1914 Q2 Gateshead 10a 2082. Mother's maiden name Campbell. Would that fit?

Hi  Kathleen,

I think that William G & George are one & the same. Ages recorded in the Census are not always 100% accurate. Also in both the Census it shows that Caroline was born in St Agnes, Cornwall & William George was born in Gateshead, Durham.

I still haven't found Thomas in 1881 but found Matilda Goldsack living as a domestic servant to a Joseph Warburton, a Wesleyan Minister, & family in Chapel Rd, Phillack, Cornwall (RG11/2337 folio 62 page 49 ed3).

Matilda was born O-D 1858 Helston 5c 236. She was bapt at Mullion 29 Aug 1858 dau of Isaac & Elizabeth Goldsack. Isaac & Elizabeth had nine children bapt at Mullion between 1850 & 1863 (IGI).
He was a Coastguard & by 1871 had moved to St Agnes.

hi Evie, yes her maiden name was campbell. she was brought up in an orphanage ? don't no which one, her mother Elizabeth died after her birth. she had a baby before she was married, David. but then i was told by my only surviving aunt (maria WAs my g aunt) that there was another illegitimate baby a girl this time after David. she was named Pauline, given up for adoption. Maria(may) kept in contact with this family the adopted parents came to visit my Nana with Pauline and aunt may on a couple of occasions from Kent to newcastle (long trip in those days). my Nana had her wedding photo, Pauline married a prison officer and emigrated to Canada in 1950, he worked in the prisons over there. may married a man called jack hunt and had 4 more children. apparently David doesn't no about Pauline, I'm trying to trace her before i tell him. the aunt who told me this wont say anything more, it was a big disgrace and doesn't want David to no as she said he was devastated when he found out he wasn't jacks son.
so i have no idea where to start, dint even no where she was born

Hi Kathleen,

I do not know anything about Jewish research & am only guessing that the "Goldsacks" are the Jewish connection. There are very few synagogues in Cornwall ( if any) & Mullion is miles from a sizable town so perhaps Isaac & Elizabeth had the children bapt first & then the children "converted" later in life? I haven't had time to find out more about Isaac & Elizabeth yet.

I am not related to this line of Trestrails but Caroline is on two family trees on www.genesreconnected.com so you might get joy there.

Hi

My Mother In-law Norma Carbis is the daughter of Lottie Trestrail (m.Brookes) who came to Canada in 1924 at 13 years of age. She came by way of Dr Bernardo's Homes.  Her younger sister Winifred Trestrail also arrived in Canada at the same time.

My mother inlaw says she believes that there is a child before Margaret named Dorothy. She is not sure who Wilhelmina is and thinks maybe it's Winifred.

Lottie did take a trip back to England for the first time in 1964 to visit her Aunt Lottie (charlotte)

Lottie married John Brookes and they had 3 children

Doug Brookes, Barbara Brookes (m. Hanna) , and Norma Brookes (m. Carbis)

Marriage registered 1906 Sep ¼ Gateshead 10a 1678 George Trestrail and Susan Monkhouse

Using the surname and mother's maiden name from 1911 - 1920  births registered:

Wilhelmina M Trestrail 1912 Jun ¼ Gateshead 10a 2056
Susan Trestrail 1914 Sep ¼ South Shields 10a 1976

Then from 1906-1911 those born in 10a volume number area

Margaret Isabella Trestrail 1908 Jun ¼ Tynemouth 10b 341
Lottie Trestrail 1910 Sep ¼ Tynemouth 10b 204 (hard to tell if the middle number was a O or 6 but I think looks closer to a 0)

From the 1911 census index they were living in Ashington Northumberland at the time
