Please could someone look for a marriage for a
Benjamin Stevens born c1788 in Ticehurst, to a Sarah born c1781,

Their first known son was born in Burwash 1814 but I have them in Wadhurst as well..as I don't know where Sarah was from the marriage could be in any of the Parishes

Hi suey,

This is an interesting one.  Can I ask how you arrived at the possible birth dates for the couple?  I ask because the only explanation I can come up with for the lack of a marriage at the right time is that they are older than you think.

There are three marriages of Benjamin to Sarah in Sussex:

Benjamin STEVENS m Sarah DIVAL, botp.(B)
Buxted, East Sussex,  24 May 1790:

Benjamin STEVENS m Sarah COUSENS
Hastings All Saints, East Sussex 30 Oct 1795

Benjamin STEVENS m Sarah TOMPSETT, botp.(B)
Newhaven, East Sussex 9 Jun 1801

BVRI2 has the following baptisms, parents all Benjamin & Sarah, as well as the two sons in Burwash in 1814 and 1816:
Benjamin bapt 6 Apr 1796 Hastings All Saints
Mary bapt 6 Feb 1799 Hastings All Saints
Elizabeth bapt 25 Nov 1801 Hastings All Saints

Little Nell - thanks for looking..

  - The birth years were 'suggested' by a fellow researcher 

Sarah was with her daughter and son in law in 1851 while Hubby Benjamin was living with son George, so they could be older than we think.  I hav'nt seen the 1851 to check their ages;  think thats the next step.
