If they used the naming convention, their parents would be:

Mary - Janet and James
James - Christian and John

However, the convention was not always used or not in the 'normal' sequence.

Was Mary a widow when she died. i know little about Australian death certs, except that they are more expensive than ours but do give more info than the E & W ones.
