james crawford and mary dawson look up

Hi could i please have a look up for mary dawson's parents? mary was born 1820 in scotland she married a james crawford in 1839 saint ninians stirling. i would also like to find out james's parents names? he was born 1815 scotland. thanks so much

Hi Ness

Did Mary and James die in Scotland?  They both show in the 1851 census as born in Falkirk but there are a number of possibilities on the OPRs for their births in Falkirk (or their births may not show on the OPRs). I can't see them on later Scottish censuses. Their last child Alexander shows as born in 1856 in Falkirk (from IGI).

Only bpt that I could find for Mary was:

20 Feb 1819 Falkirk - daughter of Andrew Dawson and Janet Robert.  I note that they had a Janet but no Andrew

hi James and mary both moved to australia in 1857, i just found them arriving with all children alexander, christina, grace, janet, john and mary. so now i need to find out who their parents are so i can see when they died? so many crawfords???

The only James Crawford, coming up as b. Stirlingshire around that time is:

28 July 1813, Airth.  Parents - George Crawford and Christian Gardiner

Airth is not far from Falkirk and adjacent to St Ninians


I have already given a possible for Mary in my previous posting.

oh thanks very much gadget, now i will see if i can match the names to their deaths here in nsw.

Their daughters  Janet and Christian fit the naming convention but it is puzzling to find no George or Andrew amongst their children
