Samuel EFFER
« on: Friday 19 September 08 12:17 BST (UK) »
Samuel Edward Effer b 1862 is married to Elizabeth in 1891 with 2 Dodd stepsons.
We cannot find a marriage to confirm this.

Samuel Allan Effer b 1885 married Elizabeth Morris in 1904 at Plymouth

Samuel E married Phoebe Hutson nee Lee in 1913 at West Ham

We are totally confused - can someone help ?

Oh no.

Don't do that.

Think of the price of wigs, hairpiecs etc.

Then again....... you could probably sell all the stuff you rip out and make your fortune  ;D ;D

Had a look at the 1891.  Appears that if there was a formal marriage between Elizabeth and Samuel, it would have been about 1885 - ish.  So I have checked the UK BMD between 1884 and 1886, and found nothing.

It may be that they never actually got married, just formed a partnership as it were.

We thought the marriage should have been around then too.

Why would Samuel E marry Phoebe in 1913 in London - age 51
Samuel A would have been 28 - more likely

aaaahh

Just to stir the pot a bit ( I'm good at that in case you hadn't already noticed  ;D ;D ;D )

Is there a death for an Elizabeth EFFER prior to the marriage of Samuel and Phoebe??

Or for that matter and Elizabeth DODD??

Hi all :)

I have been searching and searching .... arrghhhh

I saw that an Elizabeth Dodd married a  James Saunders or  george Underhay in 1885...thought maybe she had married prior to Samual Effer ...checked for marriages under those surnames in Devon and Cornwall ...NOTHING!

also checked under Elizabeth Cooper ( her maiden name) ...NADA!!!

Have you ordered a birth cert to see what names she gives?

deb :)

PS ..Hi Karenlee  ;D
Travellers = Penfold, Orchard, James
Devon = Middleton,  Waterfield, Adams, Clark/e, Gould
Cornwall = Palmer, Carnarton, Slack/Smith. Morris/h

We are helping out a friend who said he could not get past his grandparents and we are starting to see why he thought this.

We will have to see if he is willing to get certificates to confirm.

Hi,

I may be able to help as I am an Effer.  Samuel A Effer b. 1885 is the son of Samuel E Effer b. 1862 and Elizabeth Cooper.  Fill me in on the relationship and I should be able to get you in touch with all sorts of cousins involved in this family research.  Cheers.
