Brickwall, please help!!!
« on: Tuesday 13 April 04 10:57 BST (UK) »
I have been researching my family tree for just over four years. However, there is one line where I know as much now as I did the day I started.

I am trying to trace my Grandfathers father. My grandfather never met or spoke of his father. This is all I know about him:

  • Name - John Henry Webber
  • 1903/4 - Occupation Railway porter
  • Probably lived Caerphilly area of south Wales 1902-1905/6
I haven't been able to find him or my grandfathers mother Margaret Annie (nee Blackwell) / Phillips/Webber on the 1901 Census. Neither, have I been able to find their wedding.

Any help or suggestion would be most welcome. I try anything!!

Hi there,

As you know of a railway connection this is an avenue you should try.  I understand the railway companies kept good records,  and there is a book called something like Did your Grandfather work on the Railways? which lists the records available.  You should find it in your local library's Local History collection.

Doing a search on this site for Railway I found this message which may be of some help:;action=display;threadid=2277;start=msg5982#msg5982

Good Luck
