South Petherwin area - DAVEY

John Davey (sometimes spelt Davy, Davies or even Davis) and Grace had a family at South Petherwin from 1810 onwards.  I have found no marriage or birth records for them.
According to the 1841 census and their death certificates, which are fairly consistent, he was a good bit older, so may perhaps have been married (or not!) before.  The birth dates to which these point are about 1767 for him, and 1784 for her.
I should be most grateful for any pointers to their possible origins.
