1861 or 1871 Birkenhead Census - Davies
« on: Sunday 30 January 05 17:12 GMT (UK) »
I would appreciate any information on the family of David Davies of 12 Market Place South, Birkenhead.

His son, Evan was married from this address in 1870.  David's professional was a publican so presumably this address was a public house.  Sadly, it is no longer standing  :( but I would love to know the name of the pub if possible.

Thanks in advance!

Had a quick look through all the David Davies of the right age to have a son (Ewen) who married in 1870 , there are no David Davies living on Market Place South, Birkenhead

Hi janet,

thanks for the quick reply!

All I know is what is on the marriagelines:

August 17th 1870,  Evan Davies Age 22 Bachelor, residence 12 Market Place South, son of David Davies, publican.

I would presume David was born circa 1820 but that's a pure guess.  I know Evan was born in Mold so presume David was too so I'm trying to check that way too!

Hope this helps a little, but thanks anyway.

Ewan marrying from that address does not mean that his father was living there, will have another look to see if there is a David from Mold

No David Davies from Mold on the 1871 census, think you really need the 1861 census with Ewan at home first, hopefully that will give you Davids place of birth

Thanks Janet, for checking for me. I already have the 1871 census page.

Evan must have had his own place then....!  I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed that someone can help me with the earlier census, or that the Welsh message board can find David!

Thanks again,
