Hi there, I have a copy of a bible incription , family of James Townsend Oswald Johnston MD, married to Sophia Martha Bainbrigge, and Emma Shazer, and Jane Archer Swaine. Inscription also contains children, dated 1844 to 1880

  1.47 a.m and I am hunting the husband of Sophia Martha Bainbrigge and have seen  2 posts on 2 boards. Would love the info with Marriages and kids etc but why not just Post in entirity online??

 The funeral of Dr. JOHNSTON, who died on Friday last, took place on Tuesday, at noon, the remains being interred in the Ryde Cemetery. The principal mourners were Mr. Robert B.L. JOHNSTON, Manager of the National Provincial Bank, Chester, Rev. Charles E. JOHNSTON of Seascale, Cumberland (sons) Rev. James B. JOHNSTON, of Falkirk, Scotland, (nephew), Mr. T.W. MORPHEY of Hazelwood, Messrs. T. DASHWOOD, W. JACOBS, J.C. BEAZLEY, A. ANDREWS, Dr. HARLAND, T.J. BLAIKIE, Rev. C.A. PEARSON, F.M. YOUNG. Professor SIMONDS, with Revs J.R. CHAMBERLAIN and C. DEARSLEY.
   Dr. James Townsend Oswald JOHNSTON was born in Kirkaldy, Fifeshire on the 20th June 1813. Educated at Kirkcaldy, Edinburgh and Paris, took degree of M.D., at Edinburgh, and entered the Army in 1837, serving with the 48th Regiment in Malta, Gilbralter and Jamaica until 1845, when he was appointed to the Duke of Wellington’s or 33rd Regiment . At the commencement of the Crimean War (1854) he became Principal Medical Officer at Parkhurst I.W. and retired from active service in 1863 with the rank of Deputy Inspector of Army Hospitals. Dr. JOHNSTON’s first wife was the daughter of General BAINBRIGGE, of Rohais Manor, Guernsey, by whom he had three sons, the eldest of whom died in 1888

I have two Johnston family trees which came to me from my great great uncle, the Rev James B Johnston (mentioned below).  One is of copiable size, but is in very small manuscript, and difficult to decipher, so isunlikely to copy well.  The other is on a large sheet (roughly A1).  Both go back several generations from James Townsend Johnston to the Rev John Johnston, Minister at Arngask, Kinross-shire, who died in 1746.
