Capper family
« on: Friday 03 October 08 13:13 BST (UK) »
I am trying to trace back from a Malcolm Capper b c1847 in Lurgon. He was married to Ellen b. c1849 in Lurgon. They had 3 children born in Lurgon between 1871 and 1874 before moving to Liverpool sometime before 1879.

I think they will have been Protestants. Where would I have to go to find Malcolm and Ellen's marriage? And is it possible to find any registration of their births given the dates? I cannot visit myself but I wondered if there was somewhere where records are kept that I could write to.

Thanks
Brie

Brie,
      I have found two marriages

Malcolm Capper married Helen Ridgeway on 27 Jun 1869 in Armagh Church of Ireland

Malcolm Capper married Marian Lucas Thompson on 24 Dec 1873 in St. Annes Church of Ireland Belfast

The first one looks a better bet but it is Armagh and not Lurgan

Hi Brie.

Re the info I sent you by PM, if you go onto the armagh ancestry search site
http://armagh.brsgenealogy.com  it will cost you 5 euro to see the record. It may show names of their parents(usually father's only) and witnesses etc

Babs

Glad it helped ;D

Thank-you both,

Kingskerswell, it is Helen Ridgway. Aljepeka found the children of Macolm and Helen and they match my records. Helen was the last missing grand-parent of this generation so I am very pleased to have pinned her down.

Thanks again
Brie

I have just purchased the marriage details from the site suggested by aljepeka. Malcolm's dad was Joseph Capper, a grocer and Helen's dad was William Ridgeway, a bootmaker. It looks as if Jopseph could be on of the two that Kingskerswell has found.

Thanks
Brie

if malcolm was born c.1847 with a joseph as father then this marriage may be worth taking note of;

joseph capper married bridget hill 14-nov-1846
waringstown church of ireland
donaghcloney parish
lurgan district
