All ive got is the marr cert of ADA HUSTWAYTE marr 1922 and it shows HENRY HUSTWAYTE as the parents name, ADA address 17 popham (i think) street, henry was a Dock or DECK labourer.

Ron

Can you tell us exactly what the 1922 marriage cert says,Ada's age, address, fathers name and job and who the witnesses were.

When and where did they marry and when did she die ,do you have that cert too?
If possible can you post a small section of the cert here, just showing her side of the family.

Regards

Carol

Do you have Ada's birth cert then,or do you just know she celebrated her birthday on May 4th? I didn't think we'd been able to find a suitable birth that fitted. She certainly isn't on any 1901 with a Henry as a dad....it may have been a made up name if mum wasn't married when she gave birth(far more common back then that people realised)

As 1922 was well after the war,you would do well to email Islington Library and ask them for an electoral roll look up for a few years around 1922 to see who else she was living with.......it might name her dad(who according to the marriage cert was a DOCK labourer)

Good luck

PS do you have a rough timeframe for when she died- for example do any of the older generation remember her- do you- did she go to anyone's wedding or see their kids being born......all gives a few clues as to when to look,oh and what area did she live in at the end of her life?

Ada and family in 1901 (Ancestry have them as 'Hartway')

John Hardwick head 51
Martha Hardwick wife 47
William J Harwick son 18
Henry Hustwayte s-i-l 29    Bricklayers labourer
Johanna Hustwayte daur 29
Mary  A Hustwayte gdaur 10
Martha Hustwayte g daur 8
Margaret Hustwayte g daur 6
Ada Hustwayte g daur 4
Johanna Hustwayte g daur 11m

Class: RG13/ Piece: 274/ Folio: 46/ Page: 3.

All  are born in London.  I think perhaps the Nottingham family are not Henry's family.  There is a Henry Hustwayte birth registered in London City district in 1871.

Henry Hustwayte marries Joanna CHAPMAN in 1890.  Something which needs futher investigation.....

The CWGC website lists a Henry Hustwayte of 26 Caroline Gardens, Shoreditch, aged 73 among the civilian war dead.  He died 07/08/1944
