Removing pictures from posts - Help
« on: Tuesday 07 October 08 08:36 BST (UK) »
Can pictures be removed from posts, at the request of the poster ?

Also can posts be deleted on request?

Thank you

I think it would depend on why the pictures need to be removed in the first place.  If they are your own then you can use the modify button on the right hand side of your own post.  This is the same button you can use to delete a post as well I think

Maybe it is best if this was place on the technical Board.

I can ask a mod to do this if you like

I requested a post of mine be removed yesterday .... and all I did was use the report to moderator button and I think the same would have to be done with pictures.

Pictures can easily be removed from your post in the same way that you attached them in the first place.

Any poster can modify their post (unless locked) - click on the "Modify" button in the top right hand corner.

It will take you to the message box where you originally composed your message.

At the bottom of this box is the phrase:

Attach a photograph or image (and other options)..

Click on this and you will see (amongst other things) a box with the word "Attached" beside it and a tick mark, plus the name of the photo.  Untick it and the photo will no longer be attached to the post.

Click save.

The originator of any post can delete their posts, but we usually leave even completed requests so that future researchers may be helped.  We only remove posts as a last resort.

Hope that helps.
