Here is some background information:
Eduard/Edward Letter (1901-1981): He emigrated in 1928 or 1929 from
Switzerland to the United States. He lived in several places in the Humboldt
County, California. His first marriage was with Frieda Oberfelt, widow Albonico.
With her first husband she had ten children. After her death in 1966 Edward
returned to Switzerland in 1967 and met there Rosa Victoria Inderbitzin. They
married and returned with her daughter to the Humboldt County, California.
Where Edward Letter lived in the 30ies, 40ies and 50ies ist not exactly known.
But with Victoria Inderbitzin he had a farm in Ferndale, Humboldt, California.
After his death on March 1981 his wife remained on the farm. There he had
40 Beefcattle for selling and a few milkcows for himself. Later he only had
10-15 Beefcattle and only one milkcow. He also worked in a sawmill in
Korbel to earn money for the pension and he could take wood for heating.
Franz/Frank Dominik Letter (1893-1950) was his brother: He travelled in 1911
on board of the ship La Tourraine from Le Havre, France to New York. There
he planned to live in a Hotel in Greenwich Village (I can't decipher the hotel name).
There is a World War One Draft Card which says that he lived in Korbel, Humboldt
County, California and worked for the Northern Redwood Lumber Company in 1917.
Later he married a woman named Maria/Mary, her maiden name is unknown.
According to the entry in the Californian Death Index she lived from 1886 to 1972.
Dominik later lived in Fieldbrook, Humboldt County, California. There he had a
little piece of land and a few cows.
