« on: Sunday 12 October 08 21:00 BST (UK) »
Hello

Looking for anybody with knowledge of Evan George Lloyd,b.1826,Tregaron.He was a General Dealer by trade. He was married to Hannah and they had 5 children-Elizabeth,Thomas,David,Jane and John.I have him in Cribyn[Parish of Llanfihangel Ystrad] in 1881 and 1901,and I believe he was also there in 1861 as his daughter Elizabeth was born in Cribyn that year.

The info. that I seek is where was he before 1861 and also any knowledge of his trade or of his dealings.I would also seek where exactly in Tregaron he was born and any knowledge of his Parents and/or his siblings.

Further to this possibly his wife Hannah's maiden name and knowledge relating to his children.

Not much to ask!!!Seiously any knowledge welcome.

Thankyou,Diolch yn fawr

Hi,

Don't know whether you're still looking for Evan  :-\

There's a marriage entry on FreeBMD website

Sep Q 1851 Newcastle Emlyn Vol. 26 pg. 881
there's an entry for
Evan George LLOYD
Hannah MORRIS
- could this be them?

If this is correct and you order the certificate it will give you both father's names & occ. and where Evan & Hannah were resident at the time of marriage
a good starting point

there's also these birth entries for

LLOYD Thomas G       Sep 1866   Aberayron   11b   50
LLOYD David             Sep 1869  Aberayron    11b   51
LLOYD Jane             Mar 1871  Aberayron    11b   50
LLOYD John George     Sep 1875  Aberayron   11b    54

The district Aberayron is in the county of Cardiganshire (it would appear that Llanfihangel Ystrad comes under this district) but you may want to check if you are thinking about ordering any of these birth certificates.

Good Luck  :)

Hello Ladyhawk,
Yes,I am very much still looking for Evan.Thankyou very much for your kindness, you have bridged a missing link.Evan was my G.g.Grandfather,there are several family stories about him,one of which was that he was related to Lloyd George's family, hence the George Lloyd part of his name!It must be him as I knew that his wife was born in N.C.Emlyn,the names of the children tally up as well, allthough I still have the 2 oldest unaccounted for-Morgan[b.1859,Llanfihangel Ystrad] and Elizabeth[b.1861,Llanfihangel Ystrad].Elizabeth is more important as she is my G.Grandmother.If you could shed any light on these I would be very grateful.
Once again thank you,
Regards,David

Hi David,

the nearest birth entry on BMD for
Morgan LLOYD is Dec. qtr. 1860  Aberayron 11b 42

thought I'd found Elizabeth 1863 Aberayron but sadly her parents are
Rees Lloyd & Elizabeth Jones

on familysearch.org there's these entries

David LLOYD parents named Evan George LLOYD & Hannah
Christening:07 SEP 1872 Llanfihangel-Ystrad, Cardigan, Wales

Jane LLOYD parents named Evan George Lloyd
Christening 07 SEP 1872 Llanfihangel-Ystrad, Cardigan, Wales

there's two
Morgan LLOYD parents named Evan LLOYD & Hannah
Christening: 22 NOV 1859 Llanfihangel-Ystrad, Cardigan, Wales
christening   10 OCT 1860 Llanfihangel-Ystrad, Cardigan, Wales

and two for a

George LLOYD parents named Evan LLOYD & Hannah c
christening 22 NOV 1859 Llanfihangel-Ystrad, Cardigan, Wales
                   10 OCT 1860 Llanfihangel-Ystrad, Cardigan, Wales

probably a different family as father not named as Evan George

Sorry but nothings come up for Elizabeth, Thomas or John I'm afraid  :(

Hello again,
Thank you for your further investigations. The familysearch.org results were ones I already knew about, and it was where I first came across Morgan.I also knew some more from Chapel records and graveyard records. The 'George ' part of their names was something added I believe by Evan George Lloyd himself-Probably to enhance his standing as a General Dealer and also probably as a snobby thing!
Morgan is the only one not buried in Cribyn chapel,he is buried in the Church.I've recently asked my Mother to check on his gravestone so am awaiting that.Elizabeth is buried in the Chapel which is how I
know she was born in 1861,again in the Parish of Llanfihangel Ystrad, but I would like to cross-reference this.
Once again thanks for your kind efforts,
Regards,David
