William Robinson b1796/97 Keswick

I am looking for the parents of William Robinson b abt 1796/97 I believe Keswick, Cumberland he married a Jane last name not known but she was born liverpool could be Jones or Willis as I have found a William Robinson married to a Jane Willis in Crosthwaite 8/6/1818.  Any help much appreciated - Thank you.

If I have found the right family in 1851 then William says he is born Crosthwaite so it will be worth searching those parish registers, though I cannot see a good match on the IGI.  They also have a daughter who was born after civil registration began so if you can find the birth then the certificate will show her mother's maiden name and confirm the marriage.  It may be worth tracing the John Banks (nephew) who is with them in 1861 too.

Thanks for the reply. 

I have found the marriage of William Robinson b abt 1796/7 he married Jane Witted (may be a corruption of Whitehead) at Crosthwaite nr Keswick, Cumbria, they married on the 18th June 1818 and had 8 or 9 children between 1819 and 1842.

However a trip to Carlisle RO to peruse the parish registers for Crosthwaite failed to turn up any evidence of William's birth or christening.  I guess I shall have to make a return visit and focus on finding the evidence.

Hi,

Further to Andrea's suggestion to trace William's nephew John Banks I found that John was the son of William's sister Anne b 1798 died June 1841 Cumberland and Jacob Banks b 1796 died 1851 Cumberland.  Unfortunately following this trail did not reveal William's parents.  However I now know that he had a sister Ann. So thanks for the tip Andrea.
