Marion Downes Reid was born 1870 in Govan but married John Aberdein Wood in Holy Trinity Church Westoe South Shields in 1893. I am trying to find her on the 1891 census

Hi Aberdein,

Do you have their marriage cert giving her father's name and occupation? Might she still have been with her parents (perhaps in Scotland) in 1891 or do you know that she was in Durham? 

1901 census gives her birth year as 1873

Marions father was Thomas Campbell Reid engineer deceased at time of her marriage. Marions parents disappeared between 1872 and 1881 when Marion and her sister were described as orphans. I`ve spent many years looking for them.

Were the sisters in England or Scotland in 1881, and could you give the ref. no. please?  When you say the parents disappeared, do you mean you haven't found death registrations for them?

Marions parents are Thomas Cambpell Reid and Agnes Cleland . Their death is not registered in Scotland.Marion is not on the 1891 census for Scotland. Isabella Tainsh is no relation to Marion.I have no idea how she came to be at South Shields.I would appreciate any thoughts on the matter

Sorry I haven't been able to find her, wondering if she is in the South Shields area but mistranscribed somewhere.  What was her address on the marriage certificate - or have you already looked at the census for that?
