Not sure if the ages you gave were ages you expected them to be in 1871 ...

Is this Ellen?

Hi Jonathan

Hard to say whether that's Ellen, although quite possible.  The ages I gave were what I was expecting in 1871 and covered the youngest children who might still have been at home.  I was hoping to come up with an age for George so that I can try to work out who his parents might have been, so if he'd died by 1871 my only hope will be the 1861 census.   There are several George Wigleys born in the right sort of area at the right sort of time, unfortunately.    Thanks for your efforts.

Thanks derbyshire - my problem though is that George would have been born well before 1837.  His first marriage took place in 1818, so he was probably born 1788 +/- 10 and there is more than one candidate - although none in LDS born in Alfreton, which is where his first family were born.

A dob or even year might help to single him out.

From this information, how can we link these Wigleys to each other? For example parents etc.  I have a John Wigley (b? -d?) father of George Wigley (b approx 1801 d?) - how can I go further back, as the census only goes back so far etc. Sally

Hello Sal86. I don't know if I can help or not my Wigley ancestors mainly came from Birmingham Warwickshire area, although John Wigley born around 1790 was in the 1841 census (age 45) but not born in county. John married a Harriett Porter on the 5/1/1824 Birmingham, their children were John Richard 15, Robert Nathaniel 14, Richard Joseph 9, George Henry 4, and Edward Anthony 2months. Iam connected to George Henry who later migrated to Australia onboard the Netherby wife Ann(Cross). Keep in touch it would be great to help one another. ???
