I have pm'd you the PHARR family - only one on the index which would hopefully include Jame's father.

Cheers

Hi Ferndale

As cando has pm'd certain information, I'm not sure whether she found the following birth.

Daniel FAR born Creswick Vic to Robert & Eliza SULLIVAN 1860 Reg: 2858

It also appears that they didn't necessarily register the births of all their children (death entries for Walter Henry & Robert indicate this)

Qld online records have the follwoing and I think these are your James' parents.

Henry Hero PHARR died 1925  (ref: 1925/B47111) parents: Robert Elau & Elizabeth O'SULLIVAN
Maria Agnes Theresa PHARR died 1909 )Ref: 1909/C2778) Parents: Fergus Henry James HIGGINS & Catherine KENNEDY

Marriage:

Maria Agnes Theresa HIGGINS married Henry Hero PHAN (mistranscibed) Ref: 1885/C1195

A number of children are born in Qld including Annie Ellen PHARR in 1896.

Cheers

Genni

Hi Genni,

Thank you so much for your help and reply.  I have copied what cando has sent me so far.
I thought perhaps  (wrongly) that James Pharr was born on the way out from the UK.  Pays not to jump to too many conclusions !!

Anyway, I can see what has happened with the family now.  It looks like James' family moved up to Charters Towers and he must have been born on the way to Qld.  At least I now have a time frame for the families arrival in Australia.

Cheers for now ferndale.
