Hi Jeeny

Imagine losing 2 within 6+ months  :-\ :'(

I wonder if we can find some more baptisms of the 'brother's' children all together as you did with the baptisms in Hunton.

This is amazing ...

Could it be possible that there are two Jobs with same wife and children's names in same area at the same time .... :o :o

In 1851 we have this;
I see Job Hedges in 1851 transcribed as HODGES
Caravans
Long Lane Bexley

Job Hodges head mar residing in traveller's caravan/hawker b Berks Windsor
Rosa wife 32 b Sussex
William son 13 b Tonbridge wells Kent
Harriet 11 unemployed b kent Barning?
Job son 8 b Kent Braidhurst ....bc 1843
James son 6 b Kent Cliffe
Jeremiah son 2 b Sussex

he def. fits with the Job in 1871 with 'uncle' James
Job Hedges age 27 Licensed Hawker  Born Breadhurst Kent

so who is Job bc 1841 , POB Unknown? could he be the same guy or a relative ...

will look in 1861 ...although without POB who knowa what we will find ?

deb  :-\

I don't think it likely that we have 2 Job's with the same wife and children as when doing my research Job alone seems to be an unusual name in the South East of England.
More likely I think that we have some one who knew Job and Phoebe and didn't want the authorities knowing their real names so borrowed Job and Phoebe's family details, however they may not have known such personal details as where they were born. Job was born in Breadhurst, Kent. So I suspect that the Census with no known birthplaces is not the real Job and Phoebe. Just someone posing as them.
Another possibility could be that they were listed as being presant by someone else as they were due to arrive by the night of the census but hadn't at that point and as such got listed twice. Long shot I know.

It's so hard to connect them as there is no IGI christenings at all for them ...I even tried under Hedger .... It does seem like a good possibility that they are brothers ....but  we need proof ...just a little teeny tiny bit would be nice LOL ..

have you seen this marriage on Pallots;

Job Hedges (b) = Margt Curtis (s)
1790 Deptford Kent

I wonder if they are related in any way

errrr after all that excitement I have realised that Maria/Mary Sophia must be the Sophia you already have...

Children of James Hedges

Esther Christened 14 June 1835 Dartford Kent
Sophia Christening Not Known  born 1839 plumbsted Kent
Selina Christened 12 July 1840 Lidsing Kent
Golias Christening Not Known  Born 1942 Aylesford kent
Elijah Christening Not Known  born 1845 Cliffe Kent
*Alfred christened 1 Oct 1848 Hunton Kent
Olive Christening Not Known  born 1851 Cliffe Kent

but at least we know that she may have been christened as Maria/Mary Sophia and not just Sophia.
