I have an Elizabeth Kitchen Sergeant in Suffolk.  1772.

I don't have a place listed with her, but the children were listed as Chilton area of Suffolk.

Maybe there's a connection?

Hi goldfinch99

Thank you for your reply and I’m so glad you did reply as for some reason I had not seen all the other replies before you from way back.  So I do apologise to everyone who’s replied in the past and I thank you for doing this.

I’m not sure where Chilton is in Suffolk but I’ll have a look on google maps.

The Serjeant’s I’m looking for were from Ipswich.  The furthest I can trace back is William Serjeant (Surgun) born about 1766 but I can’t find any record of birth for him, maybe he was born elsewhere in Suffolk?  I would love to find out information on him but really don’t know where to start.

I wonder if there’s a connection?

Other people have Elizabeth Kitchen Sergeant listed as Sargent.

It looks like she was the widow of William Sargent (1770).

I don't currently have an upgraded membership to look into them any more at the moment.

I added the William Sargent who married Elizabeth Kitchen, and it's come up with a father for him who was born Great Waldingfield, Suffolk, which is near Chilton, and where the others in this part of the tree are from.  So it seems doubtful that there is a close connection to Ipswich.  Maybe if you go back a few hundred more years they do intersect, or maybe it's a separate iteration of the surname.

Good morning,

It looks like it could be a different William Sergeant, which is a shame.  I would have loved to have found a connection.

Thank you for looking at this and thank you for your reply
