Job Gurney
« on: Sunday 26 October 08 04:34 GMT (UK) »
This is a real longshot.
The I.G.I shows a marriage at Saint Leonards,Bridgenorth for Job Gurney to Mary Smith 26/7/1801.I cannot find any further info(birth, census etc) for this Job Gurney in Shropshire. However I do have a Job Gurney and wife Mary in Hertfordshire who's 1st daughter was born 1802 with no record of a marriage in Herts.
Is there any way I could find out if Job was from Herts from Parish records?
I would be very grateful for any help. Thanks,Pete 8)
Mainly researching the Lees from Herts but also compiling a one name study of Culverhouse

Hi

The IGI also shows a marriage for a Job Gurney and a Mary Dean 12th October 1801 at Aldbury, Hertford , could this be the marriage you are after?

Hi

Well that makes a change for an extracted record on the igi to be wrong and a submitted one to be right.  I assume you have seen the parish register for this marriage.

Happy Hunting  ;D

I know this thread is rather old but I recently found the marriage in the Hertfordshire Parish Registers on find my past for Job Gurney and Mary Dean and it clearly reads Job Gurney and Mary Dean both of this parish married by banns on 12 Oct 1801.

Just in case some other researcher happens by this old thread.
Researching: Collins-Hertfordshire, Chiswick and London areas; Johnson and Egan in Hammersmith; Gurney - Brentford; Goodhew - Essex.

Thank you for posting that so the extracted record on the IGI was right after all  ;D ;D
