Hi Ali,

If you keep track of this monument, I can take a picture for you when you find out that the names have been added to the monument.  I don't live too far from this location and would be happy to do this for you.  Hopefully it will be in the Spring as we are now getting sleet and snow here.

Thank you once again Nancy, that is very nice of you.

No new info on Gilbert yet still waiting to hear from the Archives and will see where I go from there. But I have been in touch with Fegan's homes, we have to fill in a form to see if they have any details. I have forwarded these to my father in law in the UK who has to sign them as he is the nearest surviving relative.

I did email the Registrar of Vital Statistics asking how to find a marriage of Gilbert they charge $30 for every 3 years they search...he might never have been married so I will have to see what happens.

Sorry to hear your weather is not too good at the moment. We are very lucky in Perth we very rarely have a frost and we are now going into our summer.

Hope you have a good day.

Alisin

Alisin, you can order files online from Library and Archives Canada. Here's the link:
https://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/copies/secure/005010-5100-e.php

If you don't know if or when Gilbert married, I would advise against ordering a search. The $30 charge is not dependent on results, it's non-refundable. Also, you must give Vital Stats permission to copy the document at the time of the search if they find it (that costs an additional $20). If you don't give them that permission and order the registration later, it will cost another $50. You're better off to wait until they finish the genealogy database which, when complete, will have marriages from more than 75 years ago. When they get this database complete is anyone's guess but here's the link if you want to keep tabs on it:
https://www.isc.ca/VitalStatistics/Genealogy/vsgs_srch.aspx

By the way, ordering a certificate with information from the database will still cost $50.
Canada: Patterson, Brown, Haidenger/Heidinger, Meyer, Johnston(e), Gorsuch, Kitchin/Kitchen
United States: Patterson, Smith, Brown, Vance, Bower(s), Newberry, Best, Love, Gorsuch
England (Northumberland): Brown, Whitfield, Henderson
Scotland (Glasgow, Edinburgh, Fife, East Lothian): Johnston(e), Bell, Galloway, Campbell, Robertson, Williamson, Thomson, Crawford
Germans from Russia: Haidenger/Heidinger, Meyer, Meach, Lorenz

Hi Jacquie,

Thank you so much for giving me all this information.

Gosh it all works out to be so Expensive!

I guess when we pay 7 pounds for English certificate and 10 pounds for Scottish it is  quite a lot cheaper.
In Australia we pay $15 to get a Certificate transcribed.

So I'm guessing I will be leaving it untill they finish the geneology data..

Thank you,

Alison

There is some misinformation in the above.  My grandfather was 12 when he came to Canada being born in 1897 and coming in 1909.  I know when he joined up for WWI he said he was born in 1898 but this isn't the case.
