Info on (Kent) required please.

I Would love someone to point me in the right direction.I am chasing information on the surname "Kent" from the Nottingham area. All i have is Gladys Christine Hooton (b24/01/1886)married Reginald Vernon Kent , son of Mr Kent of Kent and Cooper of Nottingham on the 30th April 1908.My father (Stephen) was born at 156 College Street, Long Eaton on the 27/12/1910. I would dearly love to learn more about my fathers family and its roots.I have a book on grandmothers side (Fletcher house of lace).I'm not having much luck searching, all the sites i seem to look at want $$$. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks all.

Now - this looks like it could be reginald's family - mistranscribed as "rent" -image reads "Kent"

Dear Suz, I can't thank you enough for all you have done. I'm finding it a bit hard to absorb at present however having said that i would certainly like to know the best way to follow up on these people. Cant rely on others to do all the hard work you know.
Should I contact the births, marriages and death registry in Nottingham and purchase birth certificate after birth certificate or marriage after marriage.Not sure what would be the best way for me to check all this out. Any suggestions would be a great help.
