Hi have read your messages concerning the Robert and fursman family, ws wondering what you have found if anything, i have discover that Elizabeth had a child with her uncle, william Roberts who ws her mothers brother. But havent managed to trace the roberts family any further back, so any info you have would be great to hear.

Thanks,

Could fellow RotsChatters help out with the search for Walter John kent's family??

I am asking this on Anthony(crankyvet)'s behalf -and mine too!!!!!

This is what we have discovered so far

Walter John Kent was a music /pianoforte dealer in Nottingham and then Mansfield -he was in partnership with matthew Cooper .

Walter John Kent consistently gives his birth year c. 1860.

p.o.b. Kensington Middlesex -or Middlesex.

1901 he is in mansfield Notts with wife laura Elizabeth mary holmes (although she is louisa on 1901)

1891 he is in Nottingham with wife Laura

We have no problem tracing laura's family.

Details of marriage cert
6 mar 1890 St mary PC Nottingham
Laura Elizabeth Mary Holmes spinster 23 of Smithy Row father Thomas (confectioner)
married
Walter John Kent 30 Widower Music Dealer of All Saints father Walter John Kent Gentleman (deceased)

There is a marriage Sept qtr 1882 Chelsea of Walter john Kent - females on page are Fanny Caroline Stockwell and Emma Maria Teague
There is a birth reg for Fanny Caroline Stockwell Dec qtr 1862 Chelsea
There is a death reg for Fanny kent age 25 mar qtr 1888 Nottingham 7b 248 -but no middle name given .
But Walter could have married Emma maria teague.
Anthony is happy to send for the marriage cert
I think this is a good idea - to see who Walter gives as his father.
There is a death of Walter john kent Dec qtr 1896 age 82 St Albans - maybe his father?? Only a guess

1881 shows (in Mddsx)
Elizabeth morgan(although surname difficult to read) U 33, her unmarried sister Amelia 32, matthew Cooper (who was Walter's partner in Nottingham) age 20 Visitor Piano Tuner  b Exeter Devon) and Walter j Kent nephew U 21 Piano Tuner Middsx.
I cannot find Walter John before this -nor can I find his Aunts -Elizabeth and Amelia Morgan(?)
I cannot find a Morgan/kent marriage

I have checked complete index for births of Walter John kent 1858-1861- only found Walter Kent births (no middle name)-except Walter john kent birth reg Bishops Stroford -and I think that Walter john is married and living elswhere in 1901??

I am trying to locate the Morgan sisters -if their name is Morgan????

And am currently tracing matthew Cooper (Walter's partner) to see if they had a connection earlier than 1881.

Also wondering if maybe walter was illegit -maybe son of "aunt" Amelia -but that is nothing more than a guess

Any ideas ?????

Please join in the search

Hi all  :)

Well done, Carole!

Birth Mar 1860
Walter John Kent SPICER
Kensington  1a 112

(the family are called Spicer in 1851* - wonder if Eliza is actually the mother. There are no other girls in the household in 1851)
