Can anyone please help I am looking for information on William Griffiths who married Bridget ? about 1820 Their daughter Jane was born about 1821-1824 in Chatham Kent William was a native of Somerset and is described in 1851 census as a ? pensioner so I think he may have been in the military at Chatham when his daughter was born. I can find no trace of his marriage in somerset or of any baptism for Jane Any help would be appreciated

HO107/1920 folio 336 page 24

There is a discharge document at the National Archives for a William GRIFFITH born "Withygan" Somerset served with the Royal Marines, 55th Foot Regt. 1812-1838 - age at discharge 45 so born c1793 - could that be him?

Quite a few siblings as well so is more than likely him.

Bridget's birth place looks like Kent, ??ford, not East Geminford as shown on A******y index. Although in 1841 they were in Billbrook, Old Cleeve, and are all born in county, William 50, Bridget 40 and Jane 15 - HO107; Piece 965; Book: 7; Civil Parish: Old Cleeve; County: Somerset; Enumeration District: 7; Folio: 16; Page: 3

Thanks everyone     That is great Casalguidi He was in the Marines as I think most of the family were the age is about right too.  I did have details of christening  thanks Eyesee  .Isn`t that Somerset Genuki site great ? I have spent hours going through all my families details on it It does look like I must still do more searching to find any more details of the allusive Bridget
  As he was in the Marines perhaps he met and married Bridget in Kent somewhere .The daughter Jane married my GGgrandfather Thomas Cook and several of their sons became Marines too
