Ballyduff, Nr Roscrea
« on: Sunday 09 November 08 18:22 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find just exactly where ballyduff (Nr Roscrea) is and the Parish that is associated with the same place. The main problem is that there a a few different Ballyduffs and also the one I am trying to find, is definitly in Offaly but only a couple of miles from the Tipperary border where I believe Roscrea is sited. If I can determine the definite parish, I can start looking for my Fitzpatrick Ancestors who lived there in the early Nineteenth Century and probably before.

theres's a Ballyduff in Co. Offaly on Google maps, near to the town of Geashill.

Its about 50km North East of Roscrea, and 12km east of Tullamore.

The border with Co. Tipp is about 3km sounth of the town.

Thanks Shane, but I don't think that that is the same one. there is another one about 4 miles from Roscrea on the Dublin Rd. I need the name of the Parish for this Town/Village so that I can find out if the records exist and if so where I can view them.

Steve

There seem to be 4 townlands named Ballyduff in King's Co.
See www.thecore.com/seanruad to get names of parishes, etc.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

there looks to be another Ballyduff, about 4km, (~3 miles) NE or Roscrea, just inside Co. Offaly, it does appear of Google maps but not under a name search.

The http://maps.live.com website shows the Tipp/Offaly county border - bewteen Roscrea and Ballyduff.

Ballyduff is a townland in the parish of Killavilla. Its located in a triangle just outside Roscrea where Loois, Offaly, and Tipperary come together. Its in Co. Offaly.

Hey Steve, I hope you are still checking this thread - my great-grandmother was a Fitzpatrick (Mary Josephine) from Ballyduff / Roscrea who emigrated to the US in 1906, and I have a fair amount of information on her family (but unfortunately not much before her parents). Please get in touch!
