Hi posteria,

Many thanks for that.

I have that family in my database though the dates differ slightly. It is however the same family.

Looks like I can link Walter up with his ancestors.

Thanks again for all your help.

Best wishes

The John Rossiter born around 1796 in Earsdon that karenlee found originally seems to be the older brother of Luke. They both appear in IGI batch P000241 with the same parents.

Both families would possibly have children with the middle name of Scott.

John’s son, Walter Scott Rossiter, who died in 1877, seems to have been officially registered at birth but Luke’s son does not.

Hi posteria,

Thanks for that.

On FreeBMD there were two Walters born in Tynemouth; Walter Scott Rossiter born Dec Qtr 1843 & Walter Rossiter born Dec Qtr 1844.

If they are our two Walters with a common ancestor named Scott it does explain why they are so hard to match them up with their ancestors.

Best wishes
