WW1 & WW2 Soldiers - Pic heavy - Any idea who they could be?
« on: Friday 21 November 08 20:00 GMT (UK) »
I got these photos from ebay about 18 months ago and they have spent the time since then in frames on the side in my room.  I only know who three of them are - Figgest, Batcheler and Boswell.  Anyone have any idea who the others could be? A tall order I know, but I'm just curious!  Either way, they have a good home here...anyone with any unwanted photos, pass them this way! :)

On the back it reads 'Black & White Studios, Kirkgate, Wakefield and Carlton Street, Castleford

Walter T Boswell, 6/63028, 2/4 Queens RWS B Coy and his lady

Essex Bandsmen in a boat?!

On the back it reads '45464', 'Love & Best Wishes to you all, Florrie & Jack' and also 'Photograph by S. E. Taylor, Darlington, Harrogate, Bishop Auckland.

No information on this man, but he looks like a blend of Rowan Atkinson and Tony Robinson to me!!

On the back is printed 'Hardy.  Photographer.  Cleethorpes'.

Printed on this one - 'Kirton's Colonnade Studios, Harris Promenade, Douglas, I.o.M'

William Figgest D/236

A G Batcheler 48807

As you can see, 'Cox. Ripon' is embossed on this card

I've got what I can from there - I know really about the ones with the names - it's all the others I'm trying to find out more about.  I think they're all lovely - all moments of these men's lives caught on film.

All fantastic, but I'm finding Mr Figgest rather dashing!! ::) ;D :-*

Thanks Ady!  I'll add that to the file.

I'm reading Harry Patch's book at the moment so I think that is what has brought this on...I really should educate myself more regarding military stuff...it's something I've never looked into.

Annie - Ephraim's cousin was in the MGC...so I'm rather interested in that too!!
