Patrick & Catherine (Doorley) Lantry - Kings Co.
« on: Monday 24 November 08 11:13 GMT (UK) »
Patrick Lantry,
son of James and Bridget (maiden name starts with 'R' hard to read on Patrick's death certificate) - was born in Kings County 1796. He was married twice.  His first married was to a Bridget Donoghue around 1820.  They had at least 11 children (9 sons and 2 daughters) - nothing is known about Patrick and his first family.   It seems - that Patrick's first family may have been brought up in Lusmagh, Co. Offaly.

It is unknown what happened to Patrick's first wife Bridget.

Patrick Lantry,
married his 2nd wife Catherine Doorley 1845 in Kings Co.
They had  8 children - Keeran, Margaret, John, Patrick, Thomas, James and Michael.

The 2 eldest children - Keeran and Margaret died in infancy in Ireland - the youngest, Micheal died on the voyage to Australia - in 1865.

Patrick took his 2nd family to Australia in 1865.

Any help regarding the Lantry family of Kings County Ireland would be most appreciated.

I think I may be related through Eliza Doorley.  She was my ggg grandmother and her sisters were Bridget and Margaret.  Parents were John and Margaret Corrigan.  The birth dates and places match up although I had no idea there was another sister as the Doorley family were a bit elusive.  I know when and how Bridget and Margaret arrived but no idea about Eliza.  Although there are a few things that differ, I think they are the same family.

Hi Jack
Have you had any luck tracing Patrick Lantry? I am also a descendent of this family who all settled in the Maitland area. My question is... since a number of forums suggest that he married twice and was born in 1795/6... how could a man of 70 pass as 45?? The ship record of the arrival of Patrick and Catherine Lantry with their 5 boys and a baby who died on he voyage states that Patrick was 45 yrs of age and Catherine was 35. The ship was ‘St Hilda’ 1865.
