Collen family, Isleham
« on: Monday 24 November 08 19:01 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I'm looking for parish baptism records of Joseph Collen, from Isleham, late 1870's. I know he had a son, also Joseph, baptised in 1818, and he married Elizabeth Stanton on 18/05/1817. I have seen other people's records to indicate that he was the son of James Collen and Sarah Bonnet. I have found their marriage record in 1791 but cannot find any children (apparently they had 9). I have been looking in local microfiche records for Isleham but I think some data must be missing.

Any help appreciated!!!

Thanks,
Traci

Hi Sue!!

Thanks for your posts - I realise I totally mistyped the date - I meant 1790's, not 1870's! Dur ;) I think unfortunately that both of those Joseph's are too old to be the one I am looking for (he had a son in 1818 so he'd be an old codger!).

My search continues, I think they are all related some how or other though.

Best wishes,
Traci

Theres this one.

Joseph Collin, bap. 14th February, 1791, son of William and Mary, late Pearman
Wood Ditton.

but then again that one may have died as this couple baptised another Joseph in 1800.   :'( :'(

Ooo, that's a bit weird, naming a second child the same! But then they didn't seem to be that imaginative with names back then. I can at least go and see if I can find any more info at the library on them.

Thanks.

It wasn't at all unusual to rename a child with the same name as a previous one. Sometimes they did it more than once. ::) ::)
