1851 Census Leicester
« on: Wednesday 26 November 08 15:45 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to trace Richard Johnson (born c1800/01 Lutterwoth, Leics) and his wife Frances (born  c 1806) on the 1851 Census for Leicester.  I suspect he will appear in the Leicester Census  rather than Leicestershire.  Is it also possible to find out who else is living in the household?  I am new to this so not sure what info is available.  Grateful thanks for any help!

welcome btw - the gap in kids ages may be filled by an 1841 search - maybe Thomas is the only lad who stayed at home ...

Very many thanks for the super quick information, I really am most grateful.  As Richard & Frances were married in 1829 and had two children in quick succession (one of whom died, the other being Thomas) I too had been wondering about the gap.  This has not solved it but there may have been a John born in 1841 or who had not been born by the time of the Census.  I do have the 1841 Census and he does not figure (so may have also died).  Also, I suppose that there could be  a child/children) who were away from home at the time of the Census.  George aged 3 is my 2 x Great Grandfather.  High Cross Street would also be correct.  I am trying to confirm a connection to the Consanguinitarium in High Cross Street which was built by John Johnson, an architect, born Leicester but who went to London (he was also County Surveyor for Essex).  I do know from now deceased family members that there is a family connection but I have not unravelled it as yet.  Again many thanks.
