I am searching for my immigrant ancestor to America, Isaac Whitehead, who arrived in the New Haven (Connecticut) Colony by 1643. In the Colony, there was also a Samuel Whitehead, but no connection has ever been found between them. Samuel was the Sargeant of the colony's militia and in Town records, was especially tough on Isaac, finding numerous faults in his military bearing such and had him fined several times for being late to training, having an unclean "gunn," etc. It seems more like a family member trying to square away a young relative who might give the family a bad name.
Now I have learned that Samuel Whitehead may have been the son of Mayor John Whitehead who died in 1597 while in office. Samuel's mother, after John Whitehead's death, apparently married Henry Davenport, whose son John Davenport, was the co-founder of the New Haven Colony with Theophilus Eaton.
So is anyone aware of a connection to my Isaac Whitehead and this Whitehead family?
