Where are my Wigleys buried?
« on: Sunday 06 February 05 06:14 GMT (UK) »
Hi everyone could anyone help me find where John and Mary ann Wigley are buried? John was a widower on 1901 census but later married a woman called Bella?? Mary must have died sometime between 1881 ,when my Gt Granma was born ,and 1901.  A sad story i was told about Mary was. Mary had been at work all day and came home tired. She lay on the sofa with one of her babies and fell asleep. Whilst she slept the baby slipped off the sofa and was strangled, Mary had lay on the hood of the babies outfit. Mary died soon after, my mother thinks her mother told her once , that Mary hung herself in her grief. Does anyone know where I could find out more about this tradgic story. I was told by a reletive, now passed on, that Mary and John were buried in Romiley somewhere. Although when my gt Granma was born they lived in Droylsden. Marys surname was Smith. Thanks Michael

You could post a request for a lookup on the 1891 census giving the details that you have for the family in 1881 this should help to narrow your search a bit. You could then perhaps lookup the newspapers for that period for a report of a death.
