McDonald, Robiinson & Parker, County Carlow
« on: Sunday 30 November 08 19:24 GMT (UK) »
My husband's ancestors were William McDonald and Margaret Robinson.  Both claimed to be born in Ireland about 1806-1810.  They married in Argentieul County, Quebec, Canada in 1827.  There seemed to be an Irish community there, as all research I have read say their families were Irish and many name County Carlow as their former residence.

All clues point to the fact that the father of William McDonald was named James and the mother Mary.  This James would have been older, as he had a son James born in 1781.  There was also a child named Daniel Parker who immigrated with them who was listed as a nephew.  It is possible this was a nephew of Mary and she was a Parker--but no evidence, just a guess.

Would someone in that area please check to see if there was a large migration from County Carlow to Canada sometime between 1812-1825?  We are not sure that our McDonalds and Parkers and Robinsons came from County Carlow, but many of the others in that community did.  Seems they may have come together.

Thanks for any help.
