WW1 Army Records - Thomas Price Hulme Manchester
« on: Wednesday 03 December 08 21:15 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find out how Great Grandad THOMAS PRICE died. He married in 1902 @ St Stephens Hulme, MCR  to Mary Ann STONE. Thomas was dead in 1926 when his son, also Thomas,
( my grandad ) married Margaret ALMOND @ St George`s Church, Hulme, MCR.
I have discovered an entry in the WW1 Roll of Honour concerning a THOMAS PRICE who joined the 8th Lancs Fusiliers in Sept 1914 but died in Cairo 8/4/1915. This Thomas PRICE`s home address was given as 14 LORD STREET, HULME, MCR which is the same street my dad was born and a street that features again in my family tree.
How can I find out the next of kin to Thomas who died in WW1 so i can confirm him as my great grandad ??? Any ideas welcome.........thanks
PRICE - Hulme, Manchester / Pershore Worcest.
ALMOND - Hulme, Manchester
STONE - Hulme, Manchester
FOY/FAY/FAHY - Galway / Hulme, Manchester
MACKINNON / McKinnon - Glasgow / Partick  / Whiteinch / Manchester
HERON - Eastwood/ Blairgowrie / The Gorbals
BUCHANAN -
PATERSON - Glasgow

Hi

www.cwgc.org  has all the names of those who died in both wars.  There is an entry for the profile above but no additional info re: age or relatives
Census Information is Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk
Carlin (Ireland & Liverpool) Doughty & Wright (Liverpool) Dick & Park (Scotland & Liverpool)

Hi Pricey4848

I presume you meant the entry noted on the CWGC.

There is a Medal Card on ANC**** for this man.

It may be best to have your enquiry on the Armed Forces.

I will link for you.

Did you check to see if his papers survive by looking in the Pensions and WW1 files on Ancestry while it was free?

As you have an address, you could spend £45 getting a copy of the 1911 Census, or wait until the end of next year when it is due for release.

Hi Phil, could you tell me what SDGW stands for?I am slow some times with abbreviations  :-[
OH! and by the way happy birthday to you.
Migky  ;)

Save ya breath, found it "Soldiers who died in the great war ".  Just look at the SDGW and they do show where enlisted where as the CWGC site does not.
