BOULTON family, Norwich
« on: Monday 08 December 08 08:09 GMT (UK) »
I recently found my grandmothers marriage certificate, and it shows my granfathers name as CECIL MAY BOULTON, Chief Petty Officer, Royal Navy, based on HMS ECLIPSE, DEVONPORT, and his father is named as ROBERT BOULTON, occupation described as GENTLEMAN.
Does anybody have any further information??.
Many thanks in advance.

What year did the marriage take place, as I can see two on the BMD indexes.

Please can you give all the details on the cert, if you have it to hand.
Thanks.

The wedding took place on 25/03/1918 at St Lukes Church, New Catton, Norwich.
Grannies maiden name was Chittock, I know her father owned Chittocks shoe factory, in Norwich.
The 2 witnesses were William Chittock and Alfred Ward P.F.C, who went on to found a boatyard on Thorpe Road in Norwich.

Looks like it might be the right family in 1901 then as the age of that Cecil would match with the 1918 marriage.

Was Cecil a bachelor or widower on marriage?

Bit late in the day but a Mrs Bolton - as the papers spelt it went to Arthur Chittock's funeral in 1942.  I'm related to the Chittocks a bit further up the line from Arthur.

Incidentally, William Chittockwas Arthur's brother.
