Hello,

please excuse my ignorance of how these things work, but does anybody know...

Is Amberly still using this site???

If she is still looking, I think I may have lots of answers for her...as I have bought the house she is trying to trace!

Hope to hear back from somebody?

Hi Mike

Welcome to Rootschat  :)

Amberly was last on here on 4th December, so is still 'current'.

We'll see if you get an answer to this request. If you post another 2 messages, you will be able to send a personal message (PM).

Hello Amberly,

I think we now own the house you are trying to trace!

You have done your homework and realise that Four Crosses is also known as Llandysilio and on the maps Llandrinio is the next village.  Sarn Wen was the area on the edge of Four Crosses, near to an area called City.  Much of this land has now been built on with newer housing developments...but, there is still an old property that is shown on the old maps on the North side of the road.  Sarn Wen is also the name of the nearby brook.

We bought this property and moved in last Easter.  It is now called Hydris Leigh, but used to be called Sarn Wen House!  This is probably why you can't find any trace of it and there is no record with the Royal Mail, etc.

I don't know the exact date, but we believe parts of it to be about 200 - 250 years old.  It was originally a 2-up 2-down farm house, but has been extended over the years.  The previous owner did a lot of work and found parts of the old timber walls and an old fireplace.

Does that fit with your dates?

Mike.
