John FLEMMING 1815, Waterford or Cork?
« on: Monday 07 February 05 11:40 GMT (UK) »
I realise that I have very little information to start researching my Irish ancestors on this site.  But my family folklore says that we have a JOHN FLEMMING, and a birthdate of 1815, and the perplexing location of Waterford, County Cork.
Is there a chance I can make any kind of progress with these minimal and confusing details?
Very best wishes,
SB

Hi, SB,
It might be an idea, if it is at all feasible, to make a trip to the two counties/either county you think your Flemming family might be associated with and have a general browse around - graveyards, telephone directories, etc. You never know who might know something or someone in conversation if you bring up the subject of FLEMMING.  You do need to try and narrow down with perhaps a place name...

That's helpful, Keith, as the information we have is pretty flimsy. I fear that Flemming may be a fairly popular name, making it difficult to narrow down the search. It might  therefore require an extended visit to the Emerald Isle!
Many thanks,
SB

Thankyou, Audrey,
Sorry to ask an elementary question, but what does BVRI stand for?
It's interesting to hear about the number of Flemmings inCork. Maybe this is as close as I can get.
Best wishes,
SB
