Civil registration of Catholic marriages in Ireland started in 1864 (from 1845 for other marriages) and before these dates there will be no marriage certificates. For earlier dates you need to search for church records, if they exist. It's quite possible that the marriage you are looking for did take place in Waterford but that there is no survicing record of it.

Do all the churches you checked have marriage records going back to 1840?

If you've checked all the appropriate church records in Waterford and still not found the marriage you need to know whether or not all those churches have records going back to 1840s. If not, it's still possible that the marriage did take place in Waterford but no record of it remains.

Michael Kiely and Alice Kirby were married in Glenmore (st Jame's ) in 1833
Michael's residence at the time was stated to be Ballanguile ( gaulstown) Glenmore.
A daughter, Anastasia was baptised in Glenmore church in 1837.
A daughter, Ellen was baptised in Ballybricken church Waterford in 1840.
A son, James (jacobus) was baptised in Ballybricken church in 1844.
A son John was baptised in ballybricken church in 1847.
A daughter Johanna ? was baptised in Ballybricken in 1849. ( this record is indistinct and could possibly be another John ? ) Church record is written in Latin and some entries are difficult to decipher. EG  Johannes / Johannis /Johannaes etc. ??) Ballybricken priest looked at entry in ledger and was also unable to clarify.... Pat Kiely.

Lisduggan hasn't logged in to Rootschat since 2013 but hopefully will still get notification of your reply with the information she was looking for in 2008.
